Terms of service and EULA
Proud is a small app run by one person. These terms cover using the service, and they are also the license agreement for the app itself.

1. What Proud is, and what it is not
Proud is a food accountability app built around one relationship. You log meals, one buddy you chose sees them, and they can send a Proud back. Proud also offers streaks, lessons, a recap, and Bloom, an AI companion for reflection.
Proud is peer support, accountability and reflection. It is not treatment, not therapy, and not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, or cure anything. Nothing in the app is medical advice. For decisions about your health, talk to a qualified professional.
By downloading, installing, creating an account, or using Proud you accept these terms, including the license in section 4. If you do not accept them, do not use Proud.
2. Who can use Proud
You must be at least 13 years old to use Proud. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for services like this one, that higher age applies. If you are old enough to use Proud but not yet an adult where you live, a parent or guardian needs to read these terms and agree to them for you. You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to it secure.
3. Your account
Sign up needs an email address, a username, and either a passkey or a password. Give accurate information and keep your sign in method to yourself. If you think someone else has access to your account, contact theo@proudforus.com.
4. Your license to use Proud
Proud is licensed to you, not sold. For as long as you follow these terms, you have a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use one copy of Proud on a device you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.
That license is all you get. It transfers no ownership, and every right not given to you here stays with Proud and its licensors. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the app. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, or try to extract its source code, except to the extent the law gives you that right despite this restriction.
The license ends when these terms end or when your account ends. At that point, stop using Proud and remove it from your devices.
5. If you downloaded Proud from the App Store
Apple asks every app to spell these out, so here they are in full:
- This agreement is between you and Proud only. Apple is not a party to it. Proud, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and everything in it.
- Your license to use Proud on Apple devices is limited by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. It covers Apple branded products you own or control, and sharing through Family Sharing where Apple allows it.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Proud. Support comes from Proud, through the support page or by email.
- If Proud fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for the app, if anything. Beyond that refund, and to the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no warranty obligation at all for Proud, and anything else arising from a failure to meet a warranty is Proud’s responsibility.
- Proud, not Apple, handles any claim you or anyone else makes about the app, including product liability, a failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law.
- Proud, not Apple, handles any claim that the app infringes someone’s intellectual property, including investigating, defending, settling, and discharging it.
- You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States Government embargo or designated by that government as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You will comply with any third party terms that apply to you while you use Proud.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms, and Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
- Questions, complaints, and claims about the app go to Theo Apteker at theo@proudforus.com.
6. Your content
The photos, notes and journal entries you create in Proud are yours. You give Proud a limited license to host, store, scan, and display that content, only as needed to run the service: showing your meals to your buddy, running the automated photo safety scan, generating Bloom replies when you ask for them, and keeping backups. This license ends when your content is deleted.
You are responsible for what you post. Only post content you have the right to share.
7. The buddy relationship
Pairing requires both people to agree, by code, username request, or invite link. Either person can end the pairing at any time in Settings. Your buddy is a person, not an audience: treat them with care, and expect the same.
8. Acceptable use
Proud has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Violations can end your account immediately. Do not:
- Harass, threaten, or demean anyone.
- Post sexual, violent, or otherwise abusive imagery or text. Photos are scanned automatically, and flagged photos are never shown to your buddy.
- Post anything that sexualizes a minor, in any way, ever.
- Use Proud to promote disordered eating practices, self harm, weight loss products, or anything that measures another person’s body.
- Impersonate someone or misrepresent who you are.
- Probe, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the service or its safety systems, or use bots or other automated tools against it.
- Use Proud for a commercial purpose without written permission.
9. Reporting and blocking
You can report content or a person from inside the app, and you can end a pairing at any time in Settings. To report something without using the app, email theo@proudforus.com.
Reports are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours. Acting on one can mean removing content, ending a pairing, suspending an account, or removing it for good. Reports are retained for safety even after an account is deleted.
10. Proud Plus
Proud is free to use. Proud Plus is an optional subscription that unlocks the full lesson library, Bloom coaching, stats, rest days, streak mending, and the Home Screen widget.
- The reference price is $19.99 per year, shown in your local currency in the app before you subscribe, with a 3 day free trial.
- Billing runs entirely through your Apple account and renews automatically until you cancel.
- Cancel any time in your iPhone settings: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge.
- Deleting your Proud account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it separately with Apple.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s rules.
11. Bloom and Learn
Bloom is an AI companion. Its replies are generated by a language model, can be wrong, and are not professional advice of any kind. Bloom is not a crisis service. Where your Bloom conversations are processed is described plainly in the privacy policy.
Learn lessons are psychoeducation grounded in published research. They are not a substitute for treatment, and they are not tailored to you.
12. What belongs to Proud
The app, this site, the software behind them, the lesson content, the name, and the logo belong to Proud and its licensors, and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. The license in section 4 is the only right you get to any of it. Your own content stays yours, and section 6 covers that.
13. Availability and changes
Proud is built and run by one person. The service is provided with real care and reasonable effort, and features may change, pause, or end as the app evolves. If a change removes something you paid for, you will be told, and Apple’s refund process applies.
14. Ending things
You can stop using Proud at any time and delete your account in the app. Proud can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, immediately in serious cases. When your account ends, so does your license to use the app.
The parts of these terms that are meant to outlast the agreement do outlast it: what belongs to Proud, disclaimers, liability, the indemnity, governing law, and section 19.
15. Disclaimers
Proud is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, and with no promise that it will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors. Proud is not responsible for health decisions made based on app content. Always consult healthcare professionals for medical advice.
16. Liability
To the greatest extent the law allows, Proud’s liability for claims connected to the service is limited to the amount you paid for Proud Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or zero if you use Proud for free. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
17. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against Proud because of what you posted, how you used the app, or a part of these terms you broke, you agree to cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it, legal fees included. This does not apply to the extent the claim is Proud’s own fault, and it does not apply where the law where you live does not allow it.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator of Proud resides, except where the consumer law of your own country applies to you and cannot be set aside by agreement.
19. The rest
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and Proud about the app, and they replace anything said before. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still stands. If Proud does not enforce something straight away, that is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. You cannot transfer these terms to anyone else. Proud can transfer them, for example if the app changes hands, and you will be told if that happens.
20. Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, you will be told in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
